What is Osteopathy?

A hands-on, regulated healthcare profession focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing problems with the muscles, joints, and connective tissues that hold your body together.

Hands-on Osteopathy treatment at Elite Health Knutsford

A whole-body approach

Osteopathy treats the body as a single, interconnected system. Rather than focusing only on the spot where pain shows up, an Osteopath looks at how your posture, movement patterns, and muscle balance contribute to the problem — and works with hands-on techniques to restore healthy function.

At Elite Health Knutsford, our two qualified Osteopaths bring this whole-body perspective to every session. They’re also qualified Personal Trainers, so they can prescribe the exercise programme that complements the hands-on treatment — something most osteopathy clinics simply can’t do.

How a typical session works

  1. Assessment. Your Osteopath takes a detailed history of your symptoms, lifestyle, and medical background, then performs a postural and movement assessment.
  2. Hands-on treatment. Techniques may include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, gentle articulation, and where appropriate, manipulation — all tailored to your body and your tolerance.
  3. Exercise prescription. Because every Osteopath at Elite Health is also a qualified Personal Trainer, your follow-up plan includes targeted exercises that build on the treatment.
  4. Home visits available. For clients within 5 miles of Knutsford who can’t travel easily, we offer in-home appointments.
