James Penny has now been involved with sport throughout most of his life. Starting off with equestrianism, at an early age, James competed in shows across the North West of England and Captained his club at several show jumping events. James then swapped the bridle for a ball, taking up Rugby Union. A sport he would play for over ten years for school, club and University, where at the latter he was vice captain and coach. Throughout his rugby “career” James has been trained by professional coaches, competed in regional cup finals and trained with a Super League club. His personal sporting highlight was guiding his University team to an undefeated season in his final year.
James’ fitness interests are sport specific training to improve performance whilst competing. He also has a keen interest in maintaining/achieving a healthy lifestyle and the psychological benefits of healthy eating and an activity.
Through rugby training, James has become used to adapting training routines around injury and still being able to achieve desired results. He is able to use this skill to help his clients achieve their personal goals, whilst maintaining a comfortable but progressive training level.
James is a qualified RFU Level 3 Coach and a qualified REPS Level 2 Coach. With a keen interest in self-improvement, James is always looking to expand his repertoire. James is currently a few weeks away from completing his Personal Trainer Qualification having spent 12 months at Elite Health working alongside Jacqueline and Rowan. He is then looking to become qualified in kettlebell training and pre & post Natal training.
James recognises that self-confidence/belief plays an important part of achieving one’s goals in life be it in fitness, personal improvements or career advancement. He hopes to pass on this philosophy on to his clients to help them maintain a positive healthy lifestyle.
